Institute of Health Economics and Management (IEMS)

The Institute of Health Economics and Management (IEMS) is a joint institute of the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC) and the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne. IEMS is also attached to the Vaud County Teaching Hospital (CHUV) via its Department of Community Medicine and Health (DUMSC).

It closely collaborates with other DUMSC institutes, notably the Institute of Social and Preventives Medicine (IUMSP) and the Policlinic (PMU).

In addition, the IEMS is a partner of the Swiss School of Public Health+ (SSPH+) and member of various networks of national and international academic institutions, such as the consortium of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europa (SHARE).

IEMS objectives :

To respond to the growing challenges in health care delivery and financing as well as the general promotion of good health at the population level

To conduct interdisciplinary analyses of health care markets organizations and population health issues, which inform the health policy debate in Switzerland and abroad

To organize teaching programs in health economics, health care management and public health to improve the educational opportunities of future leaders in health care science and policy in Switzerland
