Objectifs

The main aim of the course is to familiarize students with policy-relevant issues in economics and expose students to speakers from major national and international organizations involved in economic policy. Contenus

The first part of the course consists of presentations on policy-relevant topics by speakers from major public policy institutions in Switzerland and abroad as well as academics working in the area of economic policy. In the second part of the course, students will give a presentation and write a short policy/research brief on a policy-relevant topic of their choice among a list of topics provided by the course organizers or on a topic agreed on by the student with the course organizers.

The list of topics covered in the seminar may include, but need not be restricted to the financial crisis, the euro crisis, monetary policy, public finance, environmental economics, market design, international trade, development, migration, unemployment insurance, competition policy, etc.
