Objectifs

This course is organized as seminars. The content of each session is the reading, presentation and discussion of research papers in management control as well as executing an empirical research project.

At the end of the course, the participants will have the following competences:

1. Ability to identify a research idea and how to design a project to answer it
2. Ability to write a research document
3. Ability to present research orally
4. Ability to develop alternative arguments and support them with evidence

Contenus

Class #1: Introduction to research

- General introduction

- Presentation of the structure and content of a research paper

- Confirm the research questions and the literature to be reviewed

- Research methods

Class #2: Presentation of research articles for the projects

- Presentation and discussion of research articles

- Follow up on individual projects

Evaluation:

The final grade (first attempt) is calculated as follows

- Presentation of an article associated to your project (10% individual)

- Presentation of a 4-5 page project proposal for the Master (10% individual)

- Presentation of the preliminary results (10% individual), document of 6 - 8 pages

- Final paper (70% individual)

The retake process is a rewritten version of the paper that meets the standards of the final paper
